Requirements
Minimum Required Qualifications
Matric (Grade 12) — essential.
Regulatory Examination RE5 — completed or in progress (advantageous).
National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Built Environment, or a related field (advantageous).
Short -term insurance qualification through the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) or equivalent (advantageous).
Minimum Required Experience
Minimum 1–2 years' experience in a short -term insurance claims environment, whether as a Claims Consultant, claims administrator, or in a junior assessment support role.
Basic working knowledge of homeowners/HOC (Homeowners Comprehensive) policy cover, standard claim types, and the South African short -term claims process.
Experience reading and interpreting policy schedules, wordings, and contractor/supplier quotes (advantageous).
Exposure to claims management or case tracking systems (advantageous).
Required Technical Skills
Basic proficiency in short -term insurance policy interpretation — cover sections, exclusions, conditions, excesses, and endorsements applicable to homeowners policies.
Ability to read, evaluate, and query contractor repair quotes, scope -of -work documents, and supplier estimates.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to work with claims management systems (training will be provided).
Awareness of the Short -term PPRs, TCF principles, and basic fraud indicators as they apply to homeowners claims assessment.
Numeracy skills — accurate in calculating settlement amounts, excesses, apportionment, and depreciation where applicable.
