Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a passionate and skilled Sous Chef for a luxury game reserve based in the Eastern Cape.

This is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional who thrives within a remote, high-end hospitality environment and is committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences in line with five-star standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Chef, supporting all kitchen operations while maintaining consistency, quality, and creativity across all food offerings for both guests and staff.

Package:

• Live-in position
  


• Salary: R22,500
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Executive Chef with the overall management of the kitchen
  


• Ensure consistent preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes
  


• Supervise and support kitchen staff during service
  


• Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety
  


• Assist with menu planning and seasonal dish development
  


• Ensure effective stock control, ordering, and ingredient rotation
  


• Monitor portion control and minimise waste
  


• Ensure all dietary requirements and guest preferences are met accurately
  


• Support the training and development of junior kitchen staff
  


• Maintain smooth kitchen operations during service periods
  


• Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets the property’s standards
  

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef within a luxury lodge or five-star hospitality environment
  


• Strong culinary skills with excellent attention to detail and presentation
  


• Ability to work effectively under pressure within a remote environment
  


• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  


• Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards
  


• Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  


• Ability to lead the kitchen confidently in the absence of the Executive Chef
