Structural Design Section Lead

Wood is currently recruiting for a Structural Design Section Leadr, who is a registered professional engineer with extensive experience in the Mining and Metals industry. This is an office based position, required to work on sites to support construction as required by the project.  Project sites are based in the EMEA region.

Job Objective:

• Produce drawings to schedules in accordance with accepted Engineering practice and Wood draughting procedures.
• To work in a safe manner, complying with and actively contributing to Health, Safety and Environmental HSE policies, manuals and procedures. At all times considering the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical and administrative responsibility on drafting matters for structural design section
• Monitor progress and performance of structural project drafting team. Give input and provide feedback and support where necessary. Provide technical and administrative direction on project related matters
• Coordination of drawing packages
• Liaise and be focal point for transfer of information with all other project team members, fabricators, construction, vendors and engineering management as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Sound engineering background.
• Diploma in Engineering

Knowledge, skills and experience:

• Minimum of 10 years design draughting experience, of which 5 years are in the mining and minerals processing area.
• Experienced in the detailing management of large and complex heavy industrial structures within a 3D environment.
• Ability to coordinate complex workload (including workshare with external drafting resources).
• Ability to manage and interface with similar internal technical leads in other countries.
• Familiar with relevant 2D & 3D CAD software.
• Broad knowledge of construction and operations.
• Good understanding of technology.
• Experience with Process Plant design and layout.
• Understanding of other discipline requirements.
• Checking skills with ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion
