Job Description - Student Life Manager (live -in position)
The Res Life Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping this environment by fostering community, supporting student well -being, and implementing dynamic programmes that enhance student success. This is a live -in role; on -site accommodation is provided.
Student Affairs & Well -being
Provide direct support for students’ emotional, academic, medical, and personal needs, ensuring timely referral to professional services when necessary.
Refer parents/guardians to Residence Manager regarding student concerns
Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where all students feel they belong.
Student Life Programme
Design, implement, and evaluate a building -specific Student Life Programme in collaboration with the Student Life Intern (SLI) Team.
Manage the following programme areas to enhance student growth and integration:
Sports Programme – coordinate formal and informal tournaments and leagues.
Social Programme – create inclusive social events, clubs, and activities that promote cohesion, celebrate diversity, and involve minority groups.
Academic Support Programme – implement events, study groups, and workshops to enhance academic performance.
Well -being Programme – deliver awareness campaigns, mental health initiatives, and wellness support.
Welcoming Programme – design and manage integration activities for newcomers and first -year students.
Student Life Intern (SLI) Team Management
Lead the SLI Team as the core student leadership structure in the building.
Oversee the annual appointment process and onboarding of SLIs.
Facilitate weekly SLI meetings and programme planning.
Support interns in carrying out their designated portfolios (e.g., academics, culture, wellbeing, sports.
Manage the budget allocated to the Student Life Programme effectively and transparently.
Building Community & Good Order
Establish and maintain a respectful, safe, and inclusive building culture where students feel connected and engaged.
Assist with compliance with House Rules.
Refer student disciplinary matters to the Residence Manager
Communication & Engagement
Assist with on -site communication to ensure students are informed of operational matters, programme opportunities, and important updates.
Provide opportunities for two -way communication between students and management.
Refer parent and stakeholder matters to the Residence Manager
Security & Crisis Management
Respond to crises and emergencies, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed, reports are completed, and interventions are reviewed.
Actively participate in maintaining a safe living environment.
General Responsibilities
Provide input into departmental processes, internal policies, and continuous improvements to student life services.
Requirements
Experience working with students or in student affairs, ideally in a tertiary education environment.
Strong background in community development, student support, or leadership development.
Proven ability in event planning, programme management, and project management.
Crisis management experience, particularly with emotional well -being and emergency situations.
Budget planning and management experience.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with students, parents/guardians, university partners, and external organisations.
