Job Description

To effectively and efficiently liaise with brokers, policyholders, new clients, all other stakeholders to ensure smooth running of the Underwriting division.
Excellent communication with Brokers and clients.
Provide support to account managers , Senior Underwriters, policy holders, Sales Department and internal collaboration when required.

• Uses specialist technical knowledge (risk management and financial) to assess risk for business and/or specific products (Underwriter - inclusive of Financial Risk assessment, Age Assessment, Health Risk (Anti Selection Risk) based on size and cover, governance assessment, Quality management all done within the underwriting guidelines and product rules.

• Determines, selects and accepts risk and/or liability on behalf of the organization.

• Evaluates proposals for new business against business rules and practices.

• Exercises discretion in decision making within standardized practice and set underwriting criteria.

• Experience :

• Risk assessment

• Managing of Policy Reviews

• Quotations

• Liaising with Brokers, policyholders, all other stakeholders

• Identify and submit sales leads

• Excellent client service

• Interpretation of financial statements and trends

• Industry knowledge in the Steel Industry will be advantageous

• Skills:

• Attention to technical detail.  

• Financial back ground

• Applicants must have Matric and a tertiary qualification in Commerce (NQF Level 6-7 or equivalent)

• Proficiency in Excel & Word & Outlook

• Sound business acumen.

• Excellent communication and business writing skills.
