Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant

Hermanus, Western Cape (On-site preferred | Hybrid considered)

An established accounting practice based in Hermanus / Onrus is looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to join their dynamic team of young professionals.

About the Role

You will play a key role in supporting a portfolio of clients by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end processes, and preparing accounts up to trial balance.

This role is well suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced accounting practice, enjoys working across multiple clients, and takes pride in delivering accurate work within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations


• Process accounts payable and receivable


• Capture and maintain supplier and customer invoices


• Maintain accurate general ledger records


• Prepare accounts up to trial balance


• Assist with month-end and year-end processes


• Manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously


• Support VAT reconciliations and submissions


• Assist with tax-related tasks (including individual tax returns and SARS queries)


• Assist with payroll processing where required


• Maintain organised and compliant client records


• Proactively follow up on outstanding information


• Ensure accuracy and timely delivery of all work

Requirements

• Qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field


• Previous experience within an accounting practice environment


• Strong working knowledge of:
