PURPOSE

The Procurement Internship Programme provides graduates with practical workplace exposure across the end-to-end procurement lifecycle. The successful candidate will support procurement operations while gaining hands-on experience in sourcing, supplier management, contract administration, procurement governance, market analysis, and Source-to-Pay (S2P) processes.

This role is designed to develop future procurement professionals through structured learning, coaching, and practical application of procurement best practices. REPORTING STRUCTURE

The Procurement Intern reports to the Strategic Buyer: Indirect spend

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provide administrative and operational support to ensure the effective execution of day-to-day procurement activities and Source-to-Pay processes.

Procurement Operations

• Assist with the processing of purchase requisitions and purchase orders.


• Track purchase orders and communicate order status updates to internal stakeholders.


• Support procurement activities in accordance with established procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.


• Assist with maintaining accurate procurement records, files, and documentation.


• Provide general administrative support to the Procurement team.

Supplier Management

• Support supplier onboarding and registration processes.


• Assist with maintaining supplier databases and supplier documentation.


• Support supplier engagement activities and professional communication with vendors.


• Assist in monitoring supplier information and contract records.

Sourcing & Market Research

• Gather and analyse quotations and pricing information to support procurement decisions.


• Conduct basic market research and identify potential suppliers.


• Assist with comparative analysis of supplier quotations and commercial proposals.


• Support procurement initiatives aimed at improving cost efficiency, service delivery, and compliance.

Contract & Tender Administration

• Assist with the drafting and administration of supplier agreements.


• Support the administration of RFQs, tenders, and sourcing activities for goods and services.


• Assist with maintaining contract records and monitoring agreement expiry dates.


• Ensure procurement documentation is complete and appropriately filed.

Projects & Continuous Improvement

• Support procurement projects and improvement initiatives as required.


• Participate in procurement team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvements.


• Perform ad hoc procurement-related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

• Minimum requirement: Degree/Diploma in Procurement, Purchasing & Supply chain management 


• Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams)


• No prior experience required


• Strong interest in procurement and supply chain management

REMUNERATION AND RESOURCES

• Resources needed such as working space, computer, internet, stationery, and other resources will be made available


• Monthly Stipend: R 5000


• 100% Medical aid contribution.


• Transport allowance.


• Cell Phone Allowance.

COMMITMENT

Length of commitment: 12 months
