Pay Range: €28,400 - €46,850
Placement within the salary range will vary depending on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.
Position Summary
This position will hold responsibility for nurturing and supporting existing business across Spain and Southern Europe for the Bio-Techne portfolio. The role will be closely connected to the Southern European commercial organization and may be performed remotely from Spain.
The position is primarily a Commercial Sales Support role, focused on customer follow-up, quote and order support, account coordination, inbound and outbound customer engagement, and commercial development of existing customers. In addition, this role includes a hybrid customer engagement component, allowing the successful candidate to participate in selected customer visits, local seminars, lunch & learns, workshops, events and account development activities in Spain.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong level of customer and market knowledge and to act as an important local connection between customers, Account Managers, Customer Service, Technical Support, Field Application Specialists, Marketing and the wider Southern European commercial team.
This role is not intended to replace a Field Application Specialist or Sales Specialist position, but it does require a commercially minded, scientifically curious individual who is comfortable supporting customer conversations around the Bio-Techne portfolio, including RNAscope, spatial biology and related tissue-based research workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Nurture Existing Business
- Support and nurture existing Academic and Industry customers across Spain and Southern Europe.
- Build strong customer relationships through proactive follow-up, professional communication and a strong understanding of customer needs.
- Understand customer research areas and help position the Bio-Techne portfolio in a relevant and commercially effective way.
- Support the development of existing accounts by identifying new opportunities, unmet needs and potential areas for portfolio expansion.
- Act in a commercially savvy way to unlock new business opportunities through customer conversations, live enquiries, web interactions, outbound follow-up and proactive account support.
Customer Support and Commercial Coordination
- Support sales orders, quote processing, customer follow-up and CRM/database activities.
- Handle inbound and outbound customer communication via email, phone, web enquiries, social media and other relevant channels.
- Ensure customer requests are followed up in a timely, accurate and professional manner.
- Work closely with Customer Service, Technical Support, Account Managers and Field Application Specialists to ensure customer needs are understood and addressed.
- Support bespoke commercial projects designed to drive revenue, improve customer experience and strengthen account development.
- Keep all channels of communication open with internal and external sales teams, lead generation and marketing to ensure a cohesive customer approach.
Hybrid Customer Engagement in Spain
- Participate in selected customer visits in Spain, either independently or together with Account Managers or other commercial colleagues where appropriate.
- Support local customer-facing activities such as lunch & learns, seminars, small workshops, account days and event follow-up.
- Help coordinate local engagement around key accounts, strategic prospects and growth opportunities.
- Support commercial follow-up after customer visits, events, webinars and campaigns.
- Help strengthen Bio-Techne’s local presence in Spain by providing an additional Spanish-speaking customer-facing touchpoint.
RNAscope, Spatial Biology and Scientific Workflow Support
- Support customer interest around RNAscope, spatial biology and related tissue-based workflows.
- Help qualify customer needs and identify whether opportunities require deeper technical involvement from a Specialist or Field Application Specialist.
- Support basic customer discussions around applications such as tissue-based detection, in situ hybridization, spatial transcriptomics validation, imaging workflows and downstream biological discovery.
- Escalate advanced technical discussions to the appropriate internal experts while remaining involved in commercial follow-up.
- Help connect customer research interests to relevant Bio-Techne solutions and internal resources.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with Account Managers to ensure customer needs are met in terms of product information, quoting, technical support and follow-up.
- Coordinate with Field Application Specialists and Technical Support where deeper application or workflow expertise is required.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Lead Generation teams to support campaigns, event follow-up and new opportunity development.
- Provide feedback from the Spanish market to the wider Southern European commercial team.
- Contribute to a strong, collaborative team culture focused on customer success, growth and professional execution.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Fluent Spanish and fluent English.
- Based in Spain, or able to travel regularly within Spain.
- Experience in customer care, sales support, inside sales, commercial support or a customer-facing commercial environment.
- Demonstrable ability to work in a target-driven and commercially focused environment.
- Strong communication skills and confidence in customer interaction, both remotely and face-to-face.
- Good IT skills, including experience with CRM/database systems, Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow up accurately and work to deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while staying closely connected to the wider commercial team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline preferred.
- Scientific background in biology, molecular biology, pathology, immunology, oncology, neuroscience or a related life science field is an advantage.
- MSc, PhD or previous research experience is beneficial but not required.
- Experience with academic, biotech, pharma, CRO, pathology or core facility customers is an advantage.
- Awareness of RNAscope, in situ hybridization, IHC, spatial biology, transcriptomics, imaging or tissue-based research workflows is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in a hybrid commercial/customer-facing role would be beneficial.
