Lower School Early Childhood Teaching and Learning Assistant (K1, K2, K3)

POSITION: Lower School Early Childhood Teaching and Learning Assistant (K1, K2, K3)

STARTING DATE: August 2026

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To collaborate with the Early Childhood team to create and maintain a positive environment that promotes a child-centered, pre-academic, social and emotionally rich experiential learning opportunity for 3-6-year old learners


• To establish a caring relationship with students, families and other stakeholders


• Ability to take direction from the lead teacher and to support the school and children in an assistant role


• Ability to work with small groups or individual students as directed by a Lead Teacher or member of the COST (Coordination of Support) Team


• To attend professional development opportunities offered by the school


• To perform duties and other responsibilities as assigned by the Lower School Director


• To substitute for the Lead Teacher as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education or a related field


• Two or more years of experience working with young children in an educational setting (3-6 year olds)


• Preferred experience with Regio Emilia


• Preferred experience with Creative Curriculum or other project-based approaches


• Experience working on professional teams


• Willingness to learn and use ASM curriculum and technology programs


• Willingness to work closely with colleagues to create a dynamic learning environment


• Willingness to work with ELL and students with diverse learning needs 


• Willingness to be a learner


• A desire to have fun, build community, and support childhood at ASM

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Working hours: 8:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.

Vacation and time off: same as school holidays
