The Position

Market Intelligence Manager

Location: Madrid, Spain

Roche has defined an exciting 10-year ambition plan, requiring us to adapt and transform to our evolving ecosystem and challenges ahead of us. We have redesigned our Global Procurement (GP) organization to ensure we can succeed in this new environment and deliver on our mission for patients by building new capabilities and creating a more agile organization. What is Market Intelligence (MI)?

The Enablement Chapter comprises the Global Procurement supporting functions: Communications, Learning & Development, Performance, Networks Support and Analytics & Insights. The Analytics & Insights team is dedicated to partnering within Global Procurement to bring internal and external insights and analyses. The Market Insights sub team empowers GP with timely, accurate, and actionable market insights, enabling smarter sourcing decisions and value creation.

This position reports into the Team Lead, Analytics & Insights (Partnering and MI)

As the Market Intelligence Manager, you will work in a dynamic global environment where you will bring innovation, external expertise, strategic thinking and solution development to support the growing demand within GP and other business functions for insights. Using your specialized knowledge, in-depth expertise, and ability to convert opportunities into outcomes, you will develop and deliver market intelligence and market analysis solutions to support customer needs and solve business problems.

You will work closely with procurement colleagues, business customers, suppliers, and other relevant colleagues either as a peer, coach, project/workstream lead, or subject matter specialist to develop, enhance, or deploy market intelligence and market analysis solutions.

One role is currently available concentrating in the Digital & Technology and Commercial space bringing research based insights to our colleagues and stakeholders dealing with a large array of differing complex issues.

Your key responsibilities include:

As a Market Intelligence Manager, you will play a variety of roles according to your experience, knowledge, and general requirements, such as:

  • Establish direct partnerships with Category Managers, Sourcing Leads, and Procurement Leadership.

  • Engage regularly with decision-makers across Digital, Technology, and Commercial procurement functions.

  • Provide the opportunity to significantly influence strategic direction at both the category and portfolio levels.

  • Acting as a domain knowledge and subject matter specialist, providing input, advice, and know-how in a market area to support core procurement services.

  • Ability to synthesize complex market signals into clear, compelling narratives

  • Confident in presenting insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders

  • Strong written communication skills to translate insights into action

You bring the following skills, mindsets, and behaviors:

  • University degree in preferably life sciences, business or IT.

  • 5+ years within procurement, technology management, or management consulting, ideally in a matrix organization, and demonstrated in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge across a range of procurement category areas. 

  • Demonstrated experience delivering strategies, market expertise, and innovation across categories or markets.

  • Supplier relationship management, negotiation skills, and new market entrants scouting skills. 

  • Background in tool / portal implementation for supplier service offering library development preferred. 

  • The ability to explain difficult or higher complexity capability information to others or collect/translate moderate complexity stakeholder requirements in situations requiring alignment and consensus.

  • Understanding of how AI can be implemented and utilised within a Market Research space but also within the larger sphere of Procurement.

  • Business level fluency in English

  • You are open-minded and inclusive, generously sharing ideas and knowledge while being receptive to ideas and feedback from others.
