Agteria is an AI discovery company for food production. We find novel solutions and mechanisms for agricultural and food-production problems, and license or co-develop them with partners. Our first product is a methane inhibitor for cattle, and we have a pipeline of compounds moving through discovery.
We run fast. Our AI platform proposes novel candidates in days and the wet lab validates them. That tight loop between computation and bench is what lets a small team discover and ship products at a pace most R&D organisations cannot match. We fail fast, learn quickly, and hire for work ethic, integrity, and intelligence above anything else. We are based in Stockholm and we are backed by some of the best investors in deep tech and impact.
We are looking for a Computational Biologist to work side-by-side with our Head of Science on the deepest layers of our discovery engine. This is a builder role for someone who wants to dive deep in our AI discovery platform.
You will go deep on biology and push the platform toward fully autonomous discovery, end-to-end from target identification through compound generation, in silico screening, and feedback from in vitro and in vivo data. Every cycle will make the next one faster, smarter, and less dependent on a human in the loop.
This is hands-on, high-autonomy, high-intensity work. It is also one of the most direct paths in animal biotech to seeing your computational ideas tested in real life within weeks rather than years.
What you'll do
Work directly with Head of Science and Software developers to deepen our internal discovery engine - the systems that map biology, identify targets, and generate compounds
Build, refactor, and run end-to-end discovery workflows that close the loop between computational predictions and wet-lab feedback
Push toward autonomy: every workflow you build should remove a human bottleneck while staying honest about what the model knows and does not know
Bring deep biological reasoning to the platform
Cross-reference genomes, pathway data, and patent landscapes to surface targets and compound classes that off-the-shelf tools miss
Feed every in vitro and in vivo result back into the platform so the next cycle is sharper
Collaborate with the wet-lab team to make sure the science you embed in the platform reflects what actually happens at the bench
We need someone who:
Is deeply curious about biology, and enjoy testing, learning, and iterating
You thrive in ambiguity, move quickly, and own outcomes rather than tasks.
Loves working with AI tools and has strong opinions on where they help and where they overpromise
Takes ownership, works hard, and follows things through
You likely have:
4-6 years of experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, computational chemistry, or a closely related field
Strong hands-on coding (Python expected; R, Rust, or similar a bonus)
Hands-on experience with AI/ML tools applied to biological problems (e.g. protein structure prediction, sequence models, pathway inference, generative chemistry, agent-based discovery)
Comfort with messy biological datasets and a track record of turning them into something useful
Experience working close to a wet lab, with real respect for the feedback loop between in silico and in vitro
Nice to have but not required:
Experience building or operating fully autonomous research workflows
A PhD or equivalent depth in a biology-adjacent field, or strong industry equivalent
Industry experience at the intersection of AI and drug or compound discovery
This is a chance to work on the deepest part of an AI discovery platform that already has commercial proof. You will work closely with a fast moving, highly ambitious team with office space in the centre of Stockholm.
