JOB DESCRIPTION: 
•    Collaborating closely with the matrix and line manager, as well as other relevant managers and peers, to establish and review OSH plans, including budgeting, training, and strategic programs. 
•    Lead and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Management System and program at the workplace in compliance with the Company's overall OSH policy, procedure, and guidelines, as well as adhering to national and international standards, and regulatory requirements.
•    Act as Secretary for the (EOSH) Environment, Occupational Safety and Health Committee and perform all functions of a Secretary as specified in the Regulations. 
•    Perform OSH inspection and audit of the workplace, identifying potential hazards and providing recommendations for corrective action. Prepare and submit the OSH inspection and audit report and follow up until completion of the implementation of corrective action arising from the OSH inspection and audit report.
•    Investigate any accident, near-miss accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning, or occupational disease that has happened in the place of work, identify the root cause(s), prepare an investigation report, and recommend control measures; and monitor the notification and submission of reports to DOSH and other relevant authority. To follow up until completion of the implementation of recommended control measures and corrective action arising from the accident investigation report.
•    Conduct a thorough analysis of workplace OSH performance, accident statistics, and trends, and in close consultation with relevant line managers to develop, review, and enhance OSH policies, procedures, and guidelines. This includes ensuring compliance with both technical and legal requirements.
•    Lead and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the OSH training programs at the workplace in ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and company requirements.
•    Lead and manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of the HSSE Excellence programs at the workplace.
•    Liaise with officers from the Department of Occupational Safety & Health and other relevant government agencies as and when required. 
•    Responsible for maintaining and updating OSH data and records and preparing and updating the monthly report on assignments and duties. 
•    Coach, guide and support junior peers.  
•    Influence and facilitate a generative HSSE culture and support the cultural change across the organisation.  
•    Support the integration of OSH strategies with operational and commercial excellence. 


 


SPECIAL ASPECTS/MAJOR CHALLENGES OF THE JOB:
•    Perform all tasks in line with the OSH Management System (OSHMS) roles and responsibilities in line with the HSSE Policy, Procedure, and Guidelines. 
•    The challenges in keeping abreast with all current Occupational Safety and Health legislations, technical and safety standards, and involvement in new technical or engineering developments in the power industry. 
•    Able to work closely with all Matrix/Line Managers, staff and contractors to gain trust and respect to ensure strong cooperation towards compliance with legal requirements, implementation of safety programmes and fact findings mission during accident investigations. 
•    Act swiftly and accurately in conducting accident investigations; willingness to travel on short notice; work round the clock to produce credible findings and reports. 


 


QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
•    Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent with 8-10 years of relevant working experience or 
•    Certified Safety & Health Officer by the Department of Occupational Safety & Health, Malaysia (Mandatory).
