Job Description - System Engineer

Req ID:524468

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80 000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

We are looking for an experienced signalling specialist to join our System Engineering team in Hässleholm or Stockholm.

In this role, you will review and assess technical documentation, support bid and project teams with your signalling expertise, and act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with colleagues across engineering and project delivery, you will help ensure high-quality solutions, manage technical risks, and contribute to successful project execution.

You will also play an important role in developing our ways of working and driving technical excellence within the signalling domain.

Your future role:

  • Review and technically assess customer requirements, specifications, and engineering documentation.

  • Coordinate with internal engineering teams and stakeholders to estimate costs, effort, timelines, and impacts of technical changes.

  • Prepare and manage requests for quotations (RFQs/FFUs) for subcontractors, particularly for feasibility studies, environmental assessments, and detailed design activities.

  • Maintain and update project scope, cost, and technical baseline information throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Provide technical support to project teams, helping resolve implementation issues and ensuring compliance with company standards and processes.

  • Monitor alignment with platform roadmaps, delivery plans, and project objectives.

All about you:

  • Experience in systems engineering, signalling systems, or a related technical field. Knowledge about ERTMS is meriting.

  • Experience working with, or coordinating with, other MK-BEST areas.

  • Ability to review technical documentation and develop practical engineering solutions.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external suppliers.

  • Fluent Swedish and English language skills.
