About the role


We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join our trading business in Lugano. The successful candidate will help ensure that the company’s activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and industry standards.


Working closely with the trading, operations, finance and legal teams, you will identify compliance risks, advise the business and promote a strong culture of integrity.


Key responsibilities




  • Monitor compliance with applicable Swiss and international regulations.




  • Conduct onboarding, KYC and due-diligence reviews of clients, suppliers, intermediaries and other counterparties.




  • Perform sanctions, politically exposed persons and adverse-media screening.




  • Assess transaction risks, including unusual payment structures, jurisdictions and trade patterns.




  • Support anti-money-laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions and fraud-prevention controls.




  • Review contracts and transactions from a compliance perspective.




  • Maintain compliance policies, procedures, risk assessments and internal records.




  • Advise employees on conflicts of interest, gifts and hospitality, market conduct and ethical matters.




  • Deliver compliance training and awareness initiatives.




  • Investigate potential breaches and escalate material concerns appropriately.




  • Support internal audits, management reporting and requests from banks, auditors or authorities.




  • Monitor regulatory developments and recommend necessary changes to company processes.




Candidate profile




  • University degree in law, economics, finance, business administration or a related discipline.




  • Relevant compliance, legal, audit or risk experience, preferably within trading, commodities, financial services or an international business.




  • Practical knowledge of KYC, AML, sanctions and third-party due diligence.




  • Strong analytical skills and sound professional judgement.




  • High level of integrity, discretion and attention to detail.




  • Ability to explain complex requirements clearly and provide commercially practical advice.




  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.




  • Fluent English and Italian; German or French is an advantage.




  • Professional compliance certification is an advantage.
