About the Opportunity

An established organisation is looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Database Specialist to join its team in the Bern region.

This is a hands-on position covering the full database lifecycle, including architecture, performance optimisation, migrations and production operations.

The role is also well suited to an experienced Oracle specialist looking to develop further into PostgreSQL.

Main Responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate PostgreSQL environments


• Optimise database performance and troubleshoot complex issues


• Manage deployments, migrations and ongoing database operations


• Develop backup, recovery and security concepts


• Support Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migrations


• Work with replication, clustering and high-availability concepts


• Automate processes using Shell, Ansible or Terraform


• Work within Linux-based environments


• Contribute to technical projects and knowledge sharing

Your Profile

• Professional experience with PostgreSQL operations, optimisation or development


• Strong SQL, performance tuning and database design skills


• Good knowledge of Linux environments


• Experience with Shell, Ansible, Terraform or similar automation technologies


• Understanding of replication, clustering and backup concepts


• Oracle experience or database migration experience is advantageous


• Containers or Kubernetes knowledge is beneficial but not essential


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


• Confident German and English communication skills
