Be part of a team where your work safeguards lives and powers progress. For the expansion of our team, we are seeking to hire in Geneva a dynamic and motivated Power Electronics R&D Engineer.
Main tasks:
Investigate emerging power electronics technologies for railway, DC microgrid,
industrial, energy, and advanced electrification applications.
Support feasibility studies, proof-of-concept developments, and innovation
projects.
Develop simulation models and test methodologies.
Identify opportunities for performance improvements and cost optimization.
Contribute to intellectual property generation and technology roadmaps.
Support Business Development in identifying new applications for fast-switching
circuit breakers and defining the corresponding product requirements.
Define and evaluate power semiconductor devices and converter topologies.
Perform simulations of switching behavior, losses, thermal performance, and
fault scenarios for different topologies.
Support hardware development, laboratory validation, and technology
demonstrators.
Contribute to design reviews, technical documentation, validation and project milestones.
Support development and improvement of existing HSCB and fast DC protection
products.
Analyze field issues and propose technical solutions.
Cooperate with mechanical, thermal, system, and test engineers.
Support industrialization and product maintenance activities when required.
Support the development and maintenance of HSCB electronic hardware, software, Eco-Drive, and coil controller solutions.
Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of power electronics and power semiconductor switching technologies.
Experience with power semiconductor devices, including IGBT, GTO, MOSFET, and SiC technologies.
Experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM, LTspice, or equivalent.
Knowledge of power electronics laboratory testing and measurement techniques.
Good understanding of thermal, electrical, and system-level design considerations.
Ability to work within multidisciplinary R&D teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in DC protection systems or circuit breaker technologies.
Experience in railway, industrial power systems, renewable energy, e-mobility, or DC microgrid applications.
Familiarity with EMC, insulation coordination, and safety requirements.
Experience with control algorithms and embedded control systems.
Knowledge of reliability analysis and design-for-manufacturing principles.
