Job Description - Adjunct Lecturer in Healthcare Management
Role Summary
The role will be held by an academic and/or practitioner who has in-depth knowledge of the subjects outlined below and can actively contribute to knowledge transfer within their programme and university.
Job Purpose
To conduct and contribute to learning, teaching, and knowledge transfer to benefit students, the School, the University, and the wider community.
Main responsibilities
Learning and teaching
Implement and deliver using innovative teaching methodologies to engage students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Identify best and innovative practices in learning and teaching and build them into personal teaching practice.
Ensure that personal research, knowledge and/or experience of the field inform personal teaching practice.
Contribute actively to initiatives that identify new and best practices in teaching and learning and promote them across the faculty and institution.
Enhance student experience and outcomes.
Provide academic advice and counselling.
Liaise closely with teaching, technical, and administrative staff as appropriate to ensure a quality teaching and learning environment.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Proven ability to teach healthcare business models, strategic frameworks, and performance management in a practical, student-centered manner.
Expertise in delivering courses on healthcare quality management, continuous improvement, and leadership, emphasizing applied teamwork and strategic planning.
Experience in teaching healthcare finance, including cost management, revenue generation, and the complexities of health insurance.
Ability to educate students on ethical, legal, and regulatory issues in healthcare, including fraud, abuse, and accreditation policies.
Proficiency in incorporating sustainability practices, healthcare information systems, and the role of AI, big data, and digital disruption into course content.
Strong communication skills for explaining complex healthcare innovations and leading discussions on process improvements and technological advancements.

Desirable requirements:
Relevant certifications such as Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) or Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) would be an added advantage.
Extensive experience in leadership or managerial roles within healthcare organizations such as hospitals, clinics, or healthcare consultancies.
A proven track record of published research in peer-reviewed healthcare management or healthcare policy journals.
Experience providing consultancy services to healthcare organizations, focusing on strategy, operations, or regulatory compliance.
Prior experience delivering in-person and online courses at the graduate level, particularly in healthcare management or related fields.
Familiarity with healthcare information systems (HIS), electronic medical records (EMR), telehealth platforms, or other healthcare technologies.
Ability to integrate concepts from different fields (e.g., finance, technology, and ethics) to give students a comprehensive understanding of healthcare management.
