Advanced Life Support Instructor

The Advanced Life Support Instructor teaches Basic and Advanced Life Support courses as outlined by the American Heart Association (AHA) and in compliance with UniTeam Policies and Procedures.

Duties and responsibilities

The principal duties of the role are as follows:

 Instructor responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

·         Be an active Instructor for Heartsaver, BLS, ACLS and PALS Provider courses.

·         Maintain active AHA Provider, Instructor and TCF cards.

·         Teach at least one Instructor Course every two years.

·         Delivery of training courses

·         Maintains course documentation as per AHA guidelines and Uniteam policies and procedures.

·         Ensures adequate pre-course preparation and equipment set-up as per AHA guidelines and Uniteam policies and procedures.

·         Packing up and cleaning of manikins and training equipment as per AHA guidelines and Uniteam policies and procedures.

·         Stays current through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences or workshops

·         Utilizes technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate

·         Manages conflict resolutions in accordance with the AHA and UniTeam Policy

Training Center Faculty responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:

·         Serve as mentor and resource for UniTeam.

·         Conduct update courses for instructors.

·         Teach instructor courses for Heartsaver and BLS.

·         Monitor instructor candidates. 

·         Serve as quality assurance and educational leadership for UniTeam.

·         Assists TED in implementing AHA new guidelines roll-out

·         Member of Planning, Review and Development (PDR) team

·         Assists in the addition of specialty faculty within Uniteam and Training Sites as required by AHA.

·         Be available for advanced course instructors to answer queries on technical and AHA matters

Requirements

• Must have previous experience as an AHA instructor specially in BLS, ACLS and PALS.
  


• Preferable with previous experience in developing courses
  


• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS instructor card.
  


• Prefereably with active DOH - AD (formerly HAAD) clinical license.
