Consultant General Pediatrics / Adolescent Medicine - Abu Dhabi

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Pediatrician specializing in Adolescent Medicine to join our Pediatric Department in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, age-appropriate medical care to adolescents and young adults, addressing physical, psychological, behavioral and social health needs within a multidisciplinary, confidential and patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level medical care to adolescent patients.
• Conduct comprehensive adolescent health assessments and preventive care.
• Diagnose and manage common and complex adolescent health conditions.
• Provide care for:
  • Adolescent growth and puberty disorders
  • Menstrual and reproductive health concerns
  • Eating disorders and nutritional problems
  • Obesity and weight-management issues
  • Sports and exercise-related health concerns
  • Mental and behavioral health concerns in collaboration with appropriate specialists
  • Substance use and risk behaviors
  • Sexual health and sexually transmitted infections, as appropriate
  • Chronic diseases transitioning from pediatric to adult care
• Provide confidential, developmentally appropriate consultations for adolescents.
• Support transition programs for patients with complex or chronic pediatric conditions moving to adult services.
• Provide counseling on nutrition, physical activity, sleep, mental wellbeing and healthy lifestyle.
• Coordinate care with Pediatric subspecialists, Psychiatry/Psychology, Gynecology, Endocrinology, Nutrition, Social Work and other relevant services.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and adolescent health clinics.
• Develop and implement adolescent health protocols and clinical pathways.
• Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety and service development.
• Participate in teaching and supervision of residents, fellows and junior physicians.
• Contribute to clinical research, audits and academic activities.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
• Completed recognized postgraduate training in Pediatrics.
• Recognized Board Certification/Specialist or Consultant qualification in Pediatrics.
• Fellowship or advanced formal training in Adolescent Medicine is highly desirable.
• Valid Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi Consultant license/eligibility in Pediatrics/appropriate specialty.

Required Experience

• Significant post-specialist experience as a Consultant/Specialist Pediatrician.
• Demonstrated experience providing healthcare to adolescent patients.
• Experience managing adolescent-specific medical, developmental and psychosocial issues.
• Experience in a tertiary pediatric or adolescent medicine service is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

• Fellowship training in Adolescent Medicine.
• Experience with eating disorders, obesity, reproductive health and adolescent mental health.
• Experience developing or participating in adolescent transition-of-care programs.
• Experience working with schools, sports programs or community adolescent health services is an advantage.
• Academic, teaching, research or quality-improvement experience is desirable.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a DoH Abu Dhabi–licensed/eligible Consultant Pediatrician with dedicated fellowship or advanced training in Adolescent Medicine, with substantial clinical experience managing the unique medical, developmental and psychosocial needs of adolescents.
