Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon Soft Tissue Knee - Abu Dhabi

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Soft Tissue Knee Surgery to join our Orthopedics Department in Abu Dhabi.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive diagnosis and surgical management of soft tissue and sports-related knee conditions, with particular expertise in ligament, meniscal and cartilage injuries.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level assessment and management of patients with knee disorders.
• Diagnose and treat:
  • ACL and PCL injuries
  • MCL and LCL injuries
  • Meniscal tears
  • Multiligament knee injuries
  • Cartilage injuries and defects
  • Patellofemoral disorders
  • Tendon and ligament disorders
  • Sports-related knee injuries
  • Knee instability
• Perform advanced knee procedures, including:
  • Arthroscopic knee surgery
  • ACL/PCL reconstruction
  • Multiligament reconstruction
  • Meniscal repair and meniscectomy
  • Cartilage restoration procedures
  • Patellar stabilization procedures
  • Other soft tissue knee reconstruction procedures within clinical expertise
• Perform comprehensive preoperative assessment and develop individualized surgical treatment plans.
• Provide postoperative management and coordinate rehabilitation and return-to-sport programs.
• Work closely with Sports Medicine physicians, physiotherapists, radiologists and rehabilitation specialists.
• Participate in outpatient knee clinics, operating lists and on-call services as required.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary sports medicine and orthopedic meetings.
• Participate in clinical protocols, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
• Teach and supervise residents, fellows and junior physicians.
• Contribute to clinical research, audits and service development.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from a recognized medical school.
• Completed recognized postgraduate training in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Recognized Board Certification/Specialist or Consultant qualification in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Fellowship or advanced formal training in Sports Knee / Knee Surgery / Arthroscopy is highly desirable.
• Valid Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi Consultant license/eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery.

Required Experience

• Significant post-specialist experience as a Consultant/Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon.
• Demonstrated subspecialty experience in Soft Tissue Knee Surgery.
• Strong independent experience in knee arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction.
• Extensive experience managing ACL, PCL, meniscal and other sports-related knee injuries.
• Experience managing professional, elite or competitive athletes is highly desirable.

Preferred Experience

• Fellowship training in Knee Surgery, Sports Orthopedics or Arthroscopy.
• Advanced experience in complex ligament reconstruction.
• Experience in cartilage restoration and meniscal preservation techniques.
• Experience with computer-assisted or navigation-assisted knee procedures is an advantage.
• Experience working with professional sports teams or high-performance athletes is desirable.
• Academic, teaching, research or quality-improvement experience is an advantage.

The ideal candidate will be a DoH Abu Dhabi–licensed/eligible Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon with dedicated fellowship or advanced training in Soft Tissue Knee Surgery, Sports Orthopedics or Arthroscopy, with substantial independent experience in ACL/PCL reconstruction, meniscal surgery, cartilage procedures and complex sports-related knee injuries.
