Mechanical BIM Modeler – Job Description

A Mechanical BIM Modeler is responsible for creating, developing, and coordinating detailed 3D Building Information Models (BIM) for mechanical systems in residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. The role involves producing accurate BIM models, shop drawings, and construction documentation while ensuring compliance with project specifications, BIM standards, and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain 3D BIM models for mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, ductwork, piping, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems.
  
• Prepare coordinated shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings, and as-built documentation using Autodesk Revit.
  
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and other MEP disciplines to identify and resolve clashes using Navisworks.
  
• Generate schedules, material take-offs, and quantity reports from BIM models.
  
• Review mechanical design drawings and specifications to ensure accurate modeling and coordination.
  
• Ensure models comply with project BIM Execution Plans (BEP), client requirements, and industry standards.
  
• Participate in BIM coordination meetings and implement design revisions based on consultant and client feedback.
  
• Support construction teams by providing accurate and coordinated BIM deliverables.
  

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, piping, and fire protection systems.
  
• Understanding of BIM workflows, Level of Development (LOD), and BIM standards.
  
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and specifications.
  
• Experience with clash detection, model coordination, and shop drawing preparation.
  
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  
• Experience in mechanical BIM modeling for MEP projects.
  
• Familiarity with international standards and local building codes is an advantage.
