Plumbing BIM Modeler – Job Description

A Plumbing BIM Modeler is responsible for creating, developing, and coordinating detailed 3D Building Information Models (BIM) for plumbing systems in residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. The role involves producing accurate BIM models, shop drawings, and construction documentation while ensuring compliance with project specifications, BIM standards, and local codes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain 3D BIM models for plumbing systems, including domestic water supply, drainage, sanitary, stormwater, hot and cold water, and irrigation systems.
  
• Prepare coordinated shop drawings, installation drawings, and as-built documentation using Autodesk Revit.
  
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other MEP disciplines to identify and resolve clashes using Navisworks.
  
• Generate schedules, material take-offs, and quantity reports from BIM models.
  
• Review plumbing design drawings and specifications to ensure accurate modeling and coordination.
  
• Ensure BIM models comply with project BIM Execution Plans (BEP), client requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  
• Participate in BIM coordination meetings and implement design revisions based on consultant and client feedback.
  
• Support project teams by providing accurate and coordinated BIM deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  
• Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, sanitary, stormwater, and irrigation.
  
• Understanding of BIM workflows, Level of Development (LOD), and BIM standards.
  
• Ability to read and interpret plumbing engineering drawings and specifications.
  
• Experience with clash detection, model coordination, and shop drawing preparation.
  
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  
• Experience in plumbing BIM modeling for MEP projects.
  
• Familiarity with international standards and local plumbing codes is an advantage.
