Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Consultant

Our leading healthcare facility in the UAE is seeking an experienced Consultant in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) to provide comprehensive assessment and management of patients with physical impairments, disabilities, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, chronic pain, and functional limitations. The role involves developing individualized rehabilitation plans and working closely with a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team to improve patients' mobility, independence, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to identify patients' medical, functional, mobility, and rehabilitation needs.
• Diagnose and manage patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, neuromuscular, and functional disorders.
• Develop individualized rehabilitation and treatment plans based on each patient's condition, functional goals, and recovery needs.
• Manage patients with conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, chronic pain, sports injuries, and other physical disabilities.
• Coordinate rehabilitation programs involving physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other appropriate interventions.
• Monitor patient progress and functional outcomes and modify treatment plans as required.
• Provide appropriate non-surgical and interventional pain management within the scope of practice.
• Perform procedures such as joint injections, nerve blocks, and ultrasound-guided interventions where appropriately qualified.
• Provide post-operative rehabilitation guidance in coordination with orthopedic, neurosurgical, and other specialist teams.
• Counsel patients and their families regarding rehabilitation goals, treatment options, recovery expectations, and long-term care.
• Collaborate closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nurses, pain specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records and clinical documentation.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of rehabilitation services within the facility.

Requirements

• MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Medicine, or an equivalent recognized specialty.
• Consultant-level qualification recognized under the applicable UAE Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR).
• Relevant post-specialization experience in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
• Strong clinical experience in managing complex physical, neurological, musculoskeletal, and functional conditions.
• Experience in rehabilitation planning and multidisciplinary patient management.
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.
