Job Description - Pre-Sales Consultant

Job Title: Pre-Sales Consultant –Data Protection, Backup & Disaster Recovery
Location: Onsite in Dubai, UAE

Role Summary
We are looking for a technically strong Pre-Sales Consultant to own the technical side of our data protection and disaster recovery deals. In this role, you are the bridge between complex infrastructure and customer confidence. You will work alongside our Account Managers to discover customer pain points, design Backup/DR solutions, run Proof-of-Concepts (POCs), and present your designs to IT teams and management.

Key Responsibilities
Backup & DR Architecture
  1. Lead technical discovery calls to assess customer backup, storage, and recovery requirements.
  2. Design end-to-end data protection solutions aligned with RTO/RPO, retention policies, and compliance needs.
  3. Create technical architecture diagrams, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and deployment roadmaps.
  4. Design protection strategies across physical, virtual (VMware/Hyper-V), and hybrid-cloud environments.
  5. Assist in designing replication, failover, and recovery testing workflows.

Veeam Solution Expertise
  1. Architect solutions using Veeam Backup & Replication, Veeam Data Platform, and VBO365.
  2. Design and size Veeam proxy/repository architectures, Scale-Out Backup Repositories (SOBR), and backup copy jobs.
  3. Configure and present live demonstrations showcasing backup, recovery, and replication workflows.
  4. Lead Proof-of-Concept (POC) engagements to prove the technical fit of Veeam solutions.

Cyber Resilience & Ransomware Protection
  1. Design modern backup architectures.
  2. Architect immutable storage, hardened repositories, and air-gapped recovery environments.
  3. Advise customers on backup security best practices (MFA, privileged access, segmentation).
  4. Demonstrate how to recover cleanly from a ransomware attack using isolated recovery environments.

Storage & Infrastructure Integration
  1. Work with customer storage teams to integrate Veeam with SAN, NAS, and Object Storage (S3, Azure Blob, MinIO).
  2. Validate storage performance (IOPS, throughput, latency) and perform capacity planning based on data growth and change rates.
  3. Recommend purpose-built backup appliances (e.g., Data Domain, StoreOnce) and design data transfer optimization strategies.

Cloud & Hybrid Workloads
  1. Design backup and DR strategies for workloads running on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  2. Assist customers with cloud migration and workload mobility using Veeam replication and restore features.
  3. Design protection for Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) and ensure compliance with data sovereignty rules.

Pre-Sales Engagement & Handoff
  1. Deliver technical presentations and solution overviews to customer IT teams and management.
  2. Develop RFP/RFQ responses and technical proposal documents.
  3. Handle technical objections and articulate Veeam's advantages over competitors.
  4. Collaborate with Professional Services teams to ensure a smooth handoff from design to implementation.
  5. Participate in customer kickoff meetings to clarify architecture assumptions.

Required Qualifications & Experience
Total Experience:
  • 6 - 8 years of experience in backup, disaster recovery, storage, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience designing or deploying Veeam

Backup & Replication.
Core Technical Skills:
  1. Deep understanding of enterprise backup methodologies.
  2. Solid knowledge of VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V architectures.
  3. Strong understanding of Storage technologies: SAN/NAS, Object Storage (S3), and deduplication appliances.
  4. Practical experience designing immutable/ransomware-resilient backup architectures.
  5. Strong working knowledge in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for backup/DR workloads.

Pre-Sales & Soft Skills:
  1. Proven ability to run technical discovery workshops and gather customer requirements.
  2. Experience delivering product demonstrations and Proof-of-Concepts.
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  4. Comfortable presenting to IT Managers, Infrastructure Leads, and Directors.
  5. Veeam Certification (Strongly Preferred)
  6. VMCE (Veeam Certified Engineer) is strongly preferred and will be a major differentiator during the selection process.
  7. Candidates actively working towards VMCE with solid practical experience will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
  1. Experience with Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity, or Dell PowerProtect (multivendor exposure is a plus).
  2. Experience protecting Microsoft 365 (VBO365).
  3. Experience with Kasten by Veeam for Kubernetes protection.
  4. Basic scripting skills (PowerShell or Python) to automate reporting/demos.
  5. Experience working with reseller partners or channel environments.
  6. Experience in the Middle East, GCC, or APAC markets is a bonus.
