About the Role

We are seeking a commercially driven and analytical Trader to manage the buying, selling, and trading of petroleum products and commodities across regional and international markets. The role is responsible for identifying profitable trading opportunities, negotiating commercial agreements, managing customer and supplier relationships, monitoring market trends, and maximizing profitability while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Trading & Commercial Activities

• Execute the purchase and sale of petroleum products and related commodities in local and international markets.
• Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profitability and business growth.
• Monitor market prices, supply-demand dynamics, and industry trends to identify trading opportunities.
• Manage the complete trade lifecycle from negotiation through execution and settlement.

Business Development

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, refiners, distributors, and customers.
• Identify new business opportunities and expand the company's trading portfolio.
• Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, contracts, and long-term supply agreements.
• Build strategic partnerships to strengthen market presence.

Market Analysis & Risk Management

• Analyze market intelligence, pricing trends, geopolitical developments, and economic indicators affecting commodity markets.
• Assess market risks and recommend appropriate trading and hedging strategies.
• Monitor competitor activities and industry developments.
• Evaluate trading performance and optimize portfolio returns.

Contract & Trade Execution

• Prepare and review sales contracts, purchase agreements, and commercial documentation.
• Coordinate with logistics, shipping, finance, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution of trades.
• Monitor shipment schedules, product availability, and delivery performance.
• Resolve operational and contractual issues affecting trade execution.

Financial Performance & Reporting

• Monitor trading margins, profitability, and financial exposure.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly trading reports and market updates.
• Track key performance indicators and recommend strategies to improve commercial performance.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and revenue planning activities.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure all trading activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
• Maintain accurate trading records and documentation.
• Adhere to international trade compliance, sanctions, and regulatory requirements.
• Support internal audits and risk management initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, International Trade, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's Degree or MBA is an advantage.
• 5–10 years of experience in commodity trading, petroleum trading, oil & gas, energy, or international trading.
• Strong understanding of petroleum products, international trade, pricing mechanisms, logistics, and supply chain operations.
• Experience trading refined petroleum products, base oils, lubricants, or petrochemicals is highly preferred.
