The role

As an Armourer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring weapon systems and associated equipment are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality and operational readiness. Working within a skilled team, you'll carry out the inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of small arms weapon systems, armoured turret systems, assemblies and general equipment.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your expertise in a specialist engineering environment, supporting critical defence capabilities while working on varied and challenging equipment. Your work will directly contribute to production excellence and the operational effectiveness of our customers.

Day-to-day, you’ll be:

• Conducting inspections, servicing, repair and overhaul activities on small arms weapon systems and associated equipment.


• Manufacturing miscellaneous components and items to support operational requirements.


• Carrying out examination and assessment tasks in line with production demands and training requirements.


• Maintaining high standards of quality, safety and compliance throughout all engineering activities.


• Supporting the delivery of production targets while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is full time working 37 hours per week, based on site at Donnington. This role operates on a 9-day fortnight, giving you every other Friday off.

Essential experience of the Armourer:

• Experience gained through weapon equipment courses or significant demonstrable familiarity with weapon systems and associated equipment.


• Understanding of engineering, maintenance, inspection or mechanical repair activities.


• Experience working within a quality-driven and safety-focused environment.


• Ability to follow technical procedures and specifications accurately.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Qualifications for the Armourer:

• Educated to Level 3 in Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) / National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) in an Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering discipline as a minimum.


• Holds a valid UK driving licence.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
