This is a predominantly office-based position, working alongside the Surveying Manager to maintain and continually improve the quality, consistency and technical standards of the surveying department. While occasional site visits will be required for project reviews, technical support and quality inspections, the role is focused on technical oversight, quality assurance, mentoring and delivering excellence across the business rather than undertaking routine surveys. For the right individual, this role provides a structured pathway towards becoming a Technical Survey Manager as the business continues to grow The Role · Working directly alongside the Survey Manager, you'll become the second technical lead within the business and play a key role in ensuring survey deliverables are produced to the highest possible standard while supporting the development of the survey team and helping shape the future technical direction of the company through your experience gained to date · This is not a day-to-day operational management role and is not a traditional site-based surveying position. · Reviewing and quality checking survey drawings and deliverables prior to issue. · Supporting and maintaining company-wide technical standards and procedures. · Assisting with quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives. · Providing technical guidance to Surveyors, Principal Surveyors and CAD Technicians. · Mentoring and developing junior members of the surveying team. · Supporting complex survey planning and methodology selection. · Assisting with technical aspects of quotations and tender submissions. · Working closely with the Survey Manager to improve workflows and efficiencies. · Identifying opportunities to improve quality, consistency and profitability. · Supporting the implementation of new technology, software and surveying techniques. · Carrying out occasional site visits for technical support, quality inspections and project reviews where required. The Person · This role is ideal for an experienced surveyor who wants to use their knowledge to influence the wider business rather than spending every day on site. · You'll become an integral part of the technical leadership team, helping maintain exceptional standards, supporting the development of others and contributing to the continued growth and success of the company · Extensive experience delivering Topographical, Measured Building and / or Utility Surveys. · Excellent understanding of survey control and data processing. · Strong knowledge of N4CE, AutoCAD and survey processing software. · A meticulous eye for detail and quality. · The confidence to review, challenge and improve technical outputs. · Excellent communication and mentoring skills. · Commercial awareness and an understanding of efficient project delivery. · A desire to progress into technical management. · Possess a full UK Driving Licence. · Experience with laser scanning, UAVs, mobile mapping and BIM would be advantageous Our client is proud to be one of the UK’s leading multi-faceted surveying consultants who actively promotes partnering through all their projects and is committed to achieving continual improvement with the objective of increasing their performance, future opportunities and making their workplace a platform for employee excellence.
