Automation Field Service Engineer

Role: Automation Service Engineer

Location: St Ives - with field based work

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience

As part of our continued growth, we are looking to appoint a Service Engineer to support installations, commissioning, and aftersales service activities across the UK.

This position suits a technically capable individual who takes pride in delivering high standards of workmanship and building strong customer relationships. You will represent the company on-site, ensuring equipment is installed, maintained, and supported to the highest professional standard.

Responsibilities

Installation, commissioning, and servicing of packaging and automation equipment
Fault finding and diagnostics across electrical and pneumatic systems
Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and control panel layouts
Supporting customers with technical troubleshooting both remotely and on-site
Ensuring compliance with industry and safety standards
Delivering a professional and customer-focused service experience

Skills & Experience

Experience working with packaging machinery, automated handling systems, or conveyor equipment
Confidence working from electrical drawings and control cabinet schematics
Working knowledge of sensors, pneumatics, and automation components
Strong practical ability with a hands-on engineering mindset
A structured and organised approach to tasks
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team
A proactive, solutions-oriented attitude
Strong communication skills and a professional manner
