B2 - Temporary Promotion - Business Analyst - Social Security Scotland

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Analyst to join the Cloud and Engineering Product Team and the Logging, Monitoring and Alerting (LMA) Product Team on a Temporary Promotion/Temporary Level Transfer basis. This role provides dedicated Business Analysis support across two critical product areas that underpin core infrastructure and service resilience capabilities across the organisation. Working with stakeholders, users and multidisciplinary teams, you will analyse business problems and opportunities, identify and define business and user needs, support backlog prioritisation, and contribute to the delivery of key cloud, engineering, monitoring and security initiatives. You will play a vital role in ensuring that products and services meet organisational objectives, deliver value to users, and support the effective delivery of both ongoing business-as-usual activities and strategic improvements.

A Business Analyst leads small to medium size projects and supports larger and more complex projects.

At this role level, you will:

Responsibilities 

• Examine current cloud infrastructure (AWS) and cross-system integrations (Boomi) to develop a technical knowledge base that supports the level of technical analysis required for live service support and service change initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, business analysts and product owners, to produce business, technical and digital solution artefacts. This includes using business, technical and user requirements to develop technical specifications, epics, user stories and benefits analyses in support of technical proposals.
• Engage with stakeholders and build strong working relationships through effective stakeholder analysis and management, working closely with project teams to define approaches that meet customer needs.
• Support customers and stakeholders through transformational change programmes.
• Lead and deliver business and technical analysis products for small to medium-sized initiatives and support larger, more complex programmes. This includes pre- and post-project activities such as impact assessments and benefits realisation.
• Work within multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver transformational change using Agile and other delivery methodologies.
• Support and work closely with Senior Technical Business Analysts on large and complex projects to define approaches that meet both customer and business needs.
• Deliver business and technical analysis outputs in line with project requirements and overall business and technical objectives.
• Apply a range of analysis techniques to establish and assess current-state ("as-is") and future-state ("to-be") processes, organisational structures, information, data and technology across the business.
• Identify, analyse, capture and validate business, technical and user requirements.
• Evaluate options and recommend solutions that improve outcomes for citizens and organisations through the effective use of technology.
• Work alongside Senior Business Analysts to support customers and stakeholders throughout transformational change programmes.
• Promote and advocate the value of understanding and meeting user needs across the wider Scottish Government.
• Actively participate in GDD Business Analysis community events, knowledge-sharing activities and professional development initiatives.

For this opportunity, the following Success Profile elements will be assessed:   

Experience:

1. Experience of business and technical analysis in an Agile/digital project environment to support the delivery of organisational visions and goals.

2. Experience of using business and technical analysis tools and techniques to solve problems in small to medium Digital initiatives.

3. Experience of applying stakeholder management techniques that influence others to make key decisions within product or delivery teams.

4. Experience of working with other Digital professions to design and develop technical solutions to resolve business problems.

Duration of Temporary Opportunity 
This opportunity is for up to 12 months. 

Hybrid Working
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week, and we offer a range of flexible working options, depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location.
