We're working with a well-established York organisation that wants an Assistant Commercial Accountant who's curious about the business behind the numbers. It's a rare chance to build commercial and business partnering experience at assistant level, on top of a solid core finance grounding.

The commercial bit

• Work directly with budget holders on cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting and in-year monitoring


• Learn to turn their plans into numbers they can act on, and to explain finance to people who don't speak it


• Take part in month-end and year-end close, then step back and see how the results drive decisions


• Report to the Head of Finance, with regular exposure to senior finance leadership

The core you'll master

• Cashbook oversight across three companies within the group


• Bank reconciliations, card and petty cash reviews, journals and transfers


• VAT, balance sheet and fee reconciliations


• Reviewing the transactional team's work and helping to improve how it runs

What you'll bring

• AAT (ideally qualified, or close). Or if a graduate be part-qualified CIMA/ACCA


• Some commercia finance / busines partnering would be preferred but not essential - this is your chance to get more!


• Solid month-end management accounts experience


• Initiative, and a team-first approach to a varied workload
