Work Pattern: Monday - Thursday 8.45am -4.45pm, Friday 8.45am - 4.15pm

South Lanarkshire Council are looking to recruit two Accountants to work within Finance Services.
One post will report to the Community and Enterprise Resource Finance Adviser and the other to the Strategy Finance Adviser. The responsibilities of the posts are varied and offer the post holder the opportunity to gain experience in financial management in a dynamic and challenging range of services.
You will contribute to the development, monitoring and reporting of the Council’s revenue programme, working with finance colleagues and services across the Council. This will include supporting the preparation of revenue budgets and forecasts, monitoring expenditure and funding, assisting with financial reporting, and contributing to the preparation of year-end accounts.
A key part of the role will be providing high-quality financial information, advice and support to services. You will work with colleagues to identify financial issues, investigate variances and ensure that revenue expenditure and associated funding are accurately recorded, monitored and reported.
The role will also include the preparation, coordination and submission of a range of government, strategic and corporate returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance and adherence to deadlines. You will work closely with finance colleagues, senior managers and external stakeholders to provide high-quality financial information that supports informed decision-making and organisational objectives.
The successful candidate should have experience of working within a financial environment, ideally within the public sector, and be able to demonstrate appropriate technical knowledge and an understanding of the finance function within a large organisation. You should have strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively with financial information and communicate clearly with finance and non-finance colleagues
