As a Field Service Engineer , you will be responsible for the proactive maintenance, repair, and servicing of HYG equipment and other associated products across both customer and company-owned fleets. The role focuses on maximising equipment uptime and operational availability by diagnosing faults, identifying root causes, and delivering safe, effective, and cost-efficient repairs. You will ensure all equipment remains reliable and compliant, minimising downtime and supporting customers with a high standard of technical service. The Impact you will have: Attend customer sites to assess equipment issues, determine the scope of work required, and agree repair priorities with the customer while ensuring all health, safety, and environmental procedures are followed. Maintain regular communication with both the customer and service controller throughout the repair process, providing clear updates on progress, expected completion timescales, and any associated costs. Diagnose faults efficiently, identify root causes of breakdowns, and source the correct parts in the most cost-effective manner. Utilise all available technical resources, including manufacturer information and specialist technical support teams, where necessary. Carry out maintenance, repairs, and inspections in line with engineering best practice, company standards, and manufacturer specifications to ensure the highest quality of workmanship. Conduct thorough quality checks on completed work, ensuring equipment is fully operational, safe, and fit for purpose before returning it to the customer. Identify additional repair, maintenance, or service opportunities and communicate these clearly to customers, helping to maximise equipment reliability while supporting business revenue growth. Accurately complete all job cards, inspection reports, and service documentation, ensuring records are up to date and all required customer approvals and signatures are obtained. Deliver exceptional customer service, acting as a professional ambassador for Forkway while building strong relationships with customers and supporting their operational requirements. What will help you to excel in this role: Relevant engineering or technical qualification, ideally within mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic disciplines. Proven experience in a field service, maintenance, or workshop engineering role, preferably within the materials handling, plant, construction, or industrial equipment sectors. Strong understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve faults effectively. Ability to work independently, use initiative, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise workloads to meet customer and business requirements. Customer-focused approach, with the ability to build positive relationships and understand customer needs. Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills, with a methodical approach to identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Effective communication skills, enabling clear interaction with customers, colleagues, and internal support teams. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the designated service area. What you can expect from us: 40-hour working week , providing a healthy work-life balance.
