Functional Skills Maths Tutor - Chester

Location: Chester, Cheshire
Hours: 5-15 hours per week

Prospero Teaching is looking for a motivated Functional Skills Maths Tutor to provide individualised tuition to learners across Chester. The successful candidate will support pupils and young people in developing essential numeracy skills, building confidence and working towards recognised qualifications.

The Role:
Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills Maths tuition tailored to individual learning needs.
Support learners working towards Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications, where appropriate.
Teach practical numeracy, problem-solving and mathematical reasoning.
Identify learning gaps and create achievable targets.
Adapt sessions to support learners with additional needs or gaps in their education.
Monitor progress and maintain appropriate learning records.

Experience, Training and Qualifications:
QTS, PGCE or a relevant teaching or tutoring qualification is desirable.
Strong Maths and numeracy skills.
Experience delivering Functional Skills or supporting learners with Maths is advantageous.
Experience working with young people who have missed education or require additional support is desirable.
Excellent communication skills and a flexible, learner-centred approach.

To be eligible for this role, the tutor must:
Hold the right to work in the UK.
Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one.
Provide two professional references, including child-related references.
