Salary: £50,000 – £58,000 + DOE (Flexible Hours & Performance Bonus also)
Are you an experienced Audit Senior looking for a step up, or an established Audit Manager seeking a progressive accountancy practice that combines commercial growth with genuine work-life balance? Our client is a highly regarded, multi-office accountancy firm operating across the Chesterfield area. Experiencing significant expansion across their assurance division, they are seeking an ambitious ACA/ACCA qualified Audit Manager to lead fieldwork teams, own key client relationships, and play an active role in business development.
The Opportunity
In this pivotal management role, you will take full ownership of a diverse client portfolio spanning SMEs, growing corporate entities, and specialist sectors. Working closely with Practice Directors, you will lead end-to-end audit assignments, ensure regulatory compliance, manage project profitability, and mentor junior team members. For forward-thinking professionals, this role offers direct involvement in firm-wide strategy, service line expansion, and a clear trajectory toward Senior Manager and Partner-track progression.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Qualifications & Experience: ACA or ACCA qualified with 3+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) within UK accountancy practice audit departments.
Audit Leadership & Portfolio Management: Proven track record planning, managing, and reviewing complex audit assignments, controlling budgets, managing recovery rates, and presenting findings to Directors and client boards.
Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and International Standards on Auditing (UK ISAs). Experience with cloud audit software (such as MyWorkpapers) and MS Excel is highly desirable.
Client Care & Business Development: Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success building long-term client relationships, participating in new client tenders, and identifying fee-earning opportunities.
People Leadership: Proven capability to coach, manage, and deliver constructive feedback to fieldwork seniors and trainees to foster team development and maintain audit quality.
Package & Benefits
Competitive Remuneration: £50,000 – £58,000 base salary (commensurate with PQE and managerial experience) plus discretionary performance bonuses and client referral rewards.
