About the opportunity

Salary: Up to £30,000 basic salary + commission

Vargo is recruiting on behalf of PCS Business Finance for a motivated Business Development Executive to support the growth of its asset finance brokerage. This role combines proactive telephone prospecting with relationship building to generate qualified opportunities for the broker team.

You will contact businesses, understand their asset finance requirements and arrange high-quality meetings with experienced finance brokers. Working closely with the sales team and leadership, you will help build a strong pipeline, develop customer and introducer relationships, and support opportunities through the funding process.

Key responsibilities

• Generate new business through cold and warm calling, targeted campaigns, referrals and follow-up activity.
• Identify and engage business owners and other decision makers, building rapport and understanding their needs, priorities and purchasing plans.
• Qualify potential asset finance opportunities and arrange relevant meetings or calls for the broker team, providing a clear summary of each prospect’s requirements.
• Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects and opportunities, keeping accurate records of conversations, agreed actions and follow-up activity in the company’s systems.
• Tailor telephone approaches and pitches to the customer’s needs, handle objections confidently and agree clear next steps.
• Develop relationships with customers, introducers and referral partners to encourage repeat business and new opportunities.
• Work with the sales manager on sector and regional campaigns, including opportunities across Bristol and Bath.
• Support marketing and business development initiatives, including customer calls, mail campaigns and activity involving dealers and introducers.
• Collaborate with brokers, internal colleagues and lending partners to support a smooth handover and timely progression of enquiries, proposals, approvals and payouts.
• Maintain a high standard of customer service, keeping customers informed and referring funding recommendations and transaction decisions to the broker team.
• Use knowledge of the market and competitors to explain the brokerage’s strengths and identify new routes to market.
• Work towards agreed activity, appointment and business development targets; participate in training and apply the company’s conduct standards in day-to-day work.

Skills and experience

• Previous experience in telesales, telephone canvassing, sales or business development, with evidence of achieving targets.
• Confident making outbound calls, engaging decision makers and converting initial conversations into qualified opportunities.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and negotiation skills, with the ability to listen carefully and handle objections professionally.
• A strong sales focus, commercial awareness and a motivated approach to developing new business.
• Good organisation and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage a pipeline and maintain accurate customer records.
• A self-motivated approach, the ability to work independently and a willingness to collaborate closely with colleagues.
• A positive attitude and resilience when dealing with setbacks or unanswered calls.

Desirable experience

• Experience within asset finance, commercial finance or a related business-to-business sales environment.
• An understanding of how businesses use asset finance to fund equipment, vehicles or machinery.
• Experience building relationships with introducers, dealers or referral partners.
• Knowledge of the Bristol and Bath business market.
