Job Description - Field Service Engineer

Description

About the Role

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be responsible for supporting customers across the Stoke-on-Trent area, with regular travel to customer sites throughout Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Manchester (south of the city), Sheffield and surrounding customer locations. This is a field-based role where you'll install, commission, calibrate, maintain and repair industrial weighing and process instrumentation equipment.

This role offers a high level of trust and autonomy. You'll take ownership of your assigned territory and customer visits while also working alongside fellow engineers on larger installations, heavy lifting activities and more complex service work when required.

Location & Territory

This is a home-based position covering the Stoke-on-Trent region of the UK. To provide effective customer support, candidates should ideally be located within or close to the Stoke-on-Trent area, enabling travel across the assigned territory, including Crewe, Manchester (south of the city), Sheffield and surrounding customer sites.

Why This Role Matters

You'll play an important role in helping customers maximise the performance, reliability and accuracy of critical weighing and process measurement equipment. Your work will directly support operational efficiency, compliance and customer satisfaction across a diverse industrial customer base.

While the role is centred on industrial weighing systems, NOV continues to expand its product portfolio. You'll receive structured in-house training to broaden your technical expertise across additional instrumentation and process technologies, supporting both your professional development and the future growth of the business.

About the Team

You'll join a field service team of approximately 15 engineers working across the UK. Engineers manage their own territories and daily workload while working closely together whenever additional support is needed. Larger installations and more complex service activities are often completed as a team, creating a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and mutual support are part of everyday work.

Career Development

NOV is committed to investing in your development. You'll receive comprehensive in-house training across both existing and new product lines, allowing you to continuously expand your technical capability beyond weighing systems into wider process instrumentation technologies.

As your experience and technical expertise grow, there are clear opportunities to progress into more senior engineering levels within the business.
