SEM Analyst

ABOUT YOU 

We are looking for a technically minded and detail-oriented individual with experience in laboratory analysis and materials characterisation. Knowledge and experience using Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), optical light microscopy and/or image analysis techniques.

Required skills and experience:

• Experience with Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM/EDS) or optical light microscopy and/or image analysis

• Experience of working in an industrial laboratory environment ideally within the fuels and lubricants sector 

• Relevant qualifications or experience of material science/engineering/metallurgy/analytical techniques

• Full driving license

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

We are seeking a Microscopy Analyst to join our materials characterisation team.  Operating our state of-the-art Scanning Electron Microscopes, you will prepare & analyse a varied and diverse array of debris samples supporting our clients in the aviation, marine, industrial & military sectors.

Key activities:

• Undertaking and co-ordinating testing using established test methods

• Interpretation of test data and provision of meaningful conclusions based on test results

• Compiling customer reports and providing advice to customers on results

• Provide on call support on a rota basis

• Developing/commissioning of new test methods and equipment as required

• Ensuring compliance with relevant quality and accreditation procedures

• Close liaison with the Intertek Caleb Brett UK business development team
