We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of 5 years' UK geo-environmental project experience who is confident managing site investigations, preparing technical reports and supporting projects from initial assessment through to remediation and validation. The successful candidate will work across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial and development-led projects, taking responsibility for project delivery, technical reporting, client liaison and support of junior team members. This role would suit a technically capable geo-environmental professional who is ready to take on greater project responsibility within a supportive consultancy environment. About the Consultancy The employer is an established environmental and geotechnical consultancy providing specialist advice across contaminated land, ground investigation, geotechnical engineering and environmental risk. The business supports clients through the full project lifecycle, from early-stage due diligence and desk studies through to intrusive investigation, risk assessment, remediation strategy, validation and project completion. The consultancy offers a practical and technically focused working environment, with opportunities to develop across both site-based and office-based project delivery. The Role As Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer, the successful candidate will manage and deliver geo-environmental projects involving desk studies, site investigation, environmental sampling, risk assessment, reporting and remediation support. The role will include both technical delivery and project coordination, with regular liaison between clients, subcontractors, laboratories, regulators and internal project teams. You will have project experience, report-writing ability and the confidence to manage multiple projects to programme, budget and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Project Delivery Manage and deliver geo-environmental and contaminated land projects Support projects from initial enquiry through to completion Prepare project scopes, programmes and technical delivery plans Coordinate site works, subcontractors, laboratories and internal resources Monitor project progress, deadlines, budgets and deliverables Maintain clear communication with clients and project teams Ensure work is delivered safely, accurately and commercially Support the successful delivery of projects across a varied UK portfolio Site Investigation and Fieldwork Plan and supervise Phase 2 ground investigations Oversee intrusive investigation works including trial pits, window sampling and boreholes Undertake soil, groundwater, surface water and ground-gas sampling Prepare accurate site records, logs and monitoring data Coordinate laboratory testing schedules Review site investigation outputs and identify technical concerns Liaise with drilling teams, contractors, laboratories and project managers Ensure fieldwork is completed in accordance with project specifications and health and safety requirements Geo-Environmental Reporting Prepare Phase 1 desk studies and preliminary risk assessments Prepare Phase 2 ground investigation and geo-environmental assessment reports Develop conceptual site models Interpret soil, groundwater, gas and environmental laboratory data Undertake contaminated land risk assessments Support human health, controlled waters and ground-gas risk assessment work Prepare clear technical conclusions and practical recommendations Ensure reports are accurate, commercially focused and issued to agreed deadlines Remediation and Validation Support the preparation of remediation strategies Assist with verification and validation reporting Provide technical input during remediation and construction-stage works Liaise with contractors, clients and regulators where required Support planning-condition discharge and environmental compliance requirements Help clients manage environmental risks in a practical and cost-effective way Client and Stakeholder Liaison Act as a key point of contact for clients on assigned projects Attend project meetings, site meetings and technical discussions Liaise with local authorities, regulators, contractors and consultants Communicate technical findings clearly and professionally Support strong client relationships through reliable project delivery Identify opportunities to provide additional technical support where appropriate Team Support and Mentoring Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and consultants Review site records, data and draft reporting where required Support the development of junior team members Share technical knowledge across the geo-environmental team Contribute to a collaborative and professional working culture About You We are seeking a candidate with strong UK geo-environmental consultancy experience and a practical understanding of contaminated land assessment, site investigation and reporting. The successful candidate should be confident managing projects, supervising fieldwork, interpreting environmental data and preparing high-quality technical reports. Applicants should demonstrate strong organisation, commercial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and internal teams. Essential Requirements Minimum 5 years' UK geo-environmental or environmental engineering experience Proven UK project experience is required Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering Geology, Environmental Engineering, Geoscience or a related discipline Experience preparing Phase 1 desk studies and Phase 2 geo-environmental reports Experience supervising ground investigations and environmental sampling Good understanding of contaminated land assessment Ability to develop conceptual site models Experience interpreting soil, groundwater, gas and laboratory data Knowledge of remediation strategies, verification and validation reporting Strong report-writing skills with excellent attention to detail Good project delivery and organisational skills Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills Full UK driving licence Desirable Experience Experience preparing remediation strategies and validation reports Knowledge of human health and controlled waters risk assessment Experience with ground-gas assessment and monitoring Familiarity with CL:AIRE, DoWCoP and relevant contaminated land guidance Experience working on residential, commercial, industrial or infrastructure schemes Experience mentoring junior engineers or graduates Membership of a relevant professional body Working towards Chartered status Experience supporting fee proposals or tender submissions Salary and Benefits Competitive salary Competitive overall package Company pension scheme Medical cover 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays Professional subscriptions paid Funded educational courses and professional development support Pool car available for business use Varied UK project portfolio Supportive consultancy environment Opportunity to develop technical, client-facing and project delivery skills Why Apply?
