As a Therapeutic FT & Intervention Officer, you will be an integral part of our dedicated team, working closely with children and their families. Your role will involve delivering Family Time sessions, offering high-quality support and building strong relationships. For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.  BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities.  A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).

• Deliver Family Time sessions for children and their families, providing a safe and supportive environment.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with children, young people, and their families, fostering trust and open communication.
• Work collaboratively with social work colleagues, ensuring a holistic approach to safeguarding and support.
• Implement therapeutic interventions and strategies to improve outcomes for children and young people.
• Document and maintain accurate records of Family Time sessions and interventions, ensuring confidentiality and data protection.
• Attend team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices.
• Provide feedback and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Family Time Service and its processes.
• Adhere to the organization's policies and procedures, maintaining a high standard of professional conduct.
• Promote and uphold the values and mission of Walsall Council, demonstrating a commitment to social justice and equality.

• A relevant qualification in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with children, young people, and families, preferably in a therapeutic or social work setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust.
• Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach when working with diverse families and their unique circumstances.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and adapt.
• Knowledge of child development and an understanding of the impact of trauma on children's well-being.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, sharing information and insights.
• Proficiency in using technology and electronic record-keeping systems for documentation.
• A valid driving license and access to a vehicle for travel to different locations (reimbursement may be provided).
