VP Marketing Abatement

Your Role

Bring your curiosity to work as our next VP Marketing, Abatement. You will be part of our Semiconductor Division (SUN) leadership team reporting to Martin Tollner, President Semiconductor Division.

In this role, your mission is to return our Semiconductor Abatement business to clear market leadership. You will define and execute the global strategy for the business, identifying and delivering both organic and M&A growth opportunities. Working across the Semiconductor, Semiconductor Service and Semiconductor Chamber Solutions divisions, you will ensure our strategy is aligned, differentiated and focused on the areas where we can create the greatest customer and business value.

You will contribute directly to how we create high‑quality products and solutions for our customers.

Your day-to-day

• Develop and execute the Semiconductor Abatement turnaround strategy, restoring sustainable market-share growth and strengthening our position against fast-moving local competitors. Clearly define who does what, where, with particular focus on next-generation innovation, speed to market, competitiveness and local-for-local capabilities.


• Build deep market and customer insight by working closely with Customer Centres, key customers and industry bodies to understand current and next-generation process requirements, application challenges and technology roadmaps. Benchmark our product and application performance against competitors and align opportunities across the Edwards and broader Semiconductor Division brand portfolios.


• Own the global product and technology roadmap, identifying new product and application requirements and translating them into compelling business cases, investment priorities and launch plans. Continuously optimise the portfolio to ensure differentiated customer value, competitiveness and profitable growth.


• Drive speed and discipline in product development. Together with Program Management, Product Companies and the VP Engineering, prioritise engineering resources and share accountability for delivering agreed development programmes on time, in full and against the required performance, cost and quality targets.


• Lead successful product commercialisation, ensuring each launch has differentiated market positioning and is aligned with key-account strategies and customer objectives. Establish clear penetration and market-share targets, track performance following launch and rapidly address gaps against the business case.


• Strengthen our technology leadership and brand differentiation, ensuring our innovation, product performance and customer experience consistently support the Edwards brand promise.


• Own the China-for-China strategy for Semiconductor Abatement, developing a competitive China-specific product portfolio supported by local engineering, full production capability and resilient local supply chains. Create the speed, cost position and autonomy required to compete effectively with increasingly capable local suppliers.


• Drive global business performance. Review divisional results monthly with the management team and actively steer Customer Centres and Product Companies to deliver annual commitments for orders, revenue, gross profit, cost, market share and other key business objectives.


• Support inorganic growth and portfolio expansion, providing product, technology, application and competitive insight into M&A opportunities. Validate strategic fit, challenge synergy assumptions and support the development and execution of robust post-acquisition synergy plans.


• Create clear accountability across the global organisation, ensuring strategic priorities translate into executable actions with defined ownership, milestones and measurable outcomes.


• Define and drive a coordinated multi-brand strategy to accelerate market-share growth, working closely with other Business Units to clearly define the role, positioning and value proposition of each brand. Leverage complementary product portfolios, technologies, channels and regional strengths to address different customer and market segments, maximise overall Semiconductor Division share and minimise internal competition. 

Your skills and experience

• Education level: Degree Level or higher in Science, Engineering or business discipline


• Language skills: Fluent English Essential – Chinese, Japanese, Korean useful


• Relevant previous experience:
  
  
  
  • 10-15 Years’ experience with minimum 5 years in a strategic business role. 
  
  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex portfolio of projects. 
  
  
  • Semiconductor industry and Abatement experience is required.

  • Knowledge of the Chemistry and Processes used in the Semiconductor Industry.

Your job location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our UK Global Technology Centre in Burgess Hill, or at our China or Korean sites. You must be comfortable with international travel and working on mainly UK time schedules.
