Job Description - New Job: Design Technology (Product Design) Graduate in Harlow

Job Description

Product Design Graduate – Teaching Opportunity

Product Design Graduate – Teaching Opportunity – Temporary – Immediate Start

Are you a high-achieving Product Design graduate who is considering a career in teaching? Would you like to gain valuable classroom experience while sharing your passion for design, creativity and practical learning with young people?

We are seeking an academically strong Product Design Graduate to join a supportive and ambitious secondary school on a temporary, full-time basis starting ASAP.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with a 2:1 or First Class degree in Product Design, Design Technology, Engineering, 3D Design, Manufacturing or a related subject to gain meaningful classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching.

You do not need previous teaching experience. If you have strong subject knowledge, excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in working with young people, this role could be the perfect first step towards a career in education.

The Role – Product Design Graduate

As a Product Design Graduate, you will:

  • Support the delivery of engaging Product Design and Design Technology lessons across KS3 and/or KS4.

  • Use your academic and practical knowledge to help students develop their creativity, technical understanding and practical skills.

  • Support students throughout the design process, from research and initial concepts through to designing, making, evaluating and refining products.

  • Help students develop their understanding of materials, components, manufacturing processes and emerging technologies.

  • Assist with practical activities, modelling, prototyping and the use of digital design tools.

  • Build positive relationships with students and create a supportive, engaging and purposeful learning environment.

  • Work alongside experienced teaching staff, gaining first-hand insight into classroom teaching and life within a secondary school.

  • Develop valuable skills in communication, leadership, behaviour management and lesson delivery that will support a future career in teaching.

Who We Are Looking For

We are keen to hear from recent Product Design graduates who have:

  • A 2:1 or First Class degree in Product Design, Design Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing, 3D Design or a closely related subject.

  • Strong academic achievement and excellent subject knowledge.

  • A genuine passion for design, creativity and practical learning.

  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with young people.

  • Excellent practical and technical knowledge, with the ability to explain ideas clearly.

  • A proactive, enthusiastic and positive approach.

  • An interest in exploring a future career in teaching.

Previous classroom or teaching experience is desirable but not essential. This role is specifically suited to graduates who are considering teaching and want to gain valuable experience within a school before committing to teacher training.

Why This Role?

This is more than just a graduate opportunity, it is a chance to experience life in a secondary school from the inside and discover whether teaching is the right career for you.

You’ll work alongside experienced teachers and gain valuable exposure to lesson delivery, classroom management, practical teaching and supporting student progress. The experience you gain could provide an excellent foundation for progressing into teacher training and a long-term career in education.

The school offers a supportive and collaborative environment where you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced staff, develop your confidence and make a genuine difference to students' learning.

If you are a recent Product Design graduate with a strong academic background and you're considering a career in teaching, this could be the perfect opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while putting your subject knowledge into practice.
