The Western Reserve Group sells personal and commercial property/casualty coverage to policyholders in Ohio and Indiana. The group consists of three property/casualty insurers -- Lightning Rod Mutual Insurance, Western Reserve Mutual Casualty, and Sonnenberg Mutual Insurance -- that pool their premiums, expenses, losses, and other liabilities. The Western Reserve companies offer personal auto, homeowners, and umbrella policies, as well as commercial and farm coverage, including workers' compensation. The company sells its products through some 400 independent agents. The Western Reserve Group traces its roots back to 1859, when Sonnenberg Mutual Insurance was founded.
