Seasonal | Part-Time | non-exempt


Program Duration: May 26th – July 3rd, 2026


Training: One week prior to program start


Post-Program Reporting: One week following program completion


Schedule: Monday–Friday, ~18–20 hours/week


Location: In-Person, Treasure Valley (Boise School District)

Are you ready to significantly impact the lives of individuals who face obstacles to learning? Lee Pesky Learning Center (LPLC) is seeking Literacy pod tutors to join our team for the Summer Ignite Literacy Pod Program in Boise School District. 


 


LPLC, a leader in education nonprofits, is a comprehensive training, service, and research center with a rich history and a promising future. Located in Boise, Idaho, with a satellite office in the Sun Valley area, LPLC was founded in 1997 by Alan and Wendy Pesky in honor of their son, Lee. Today, LPLC provides evaluation and one-on-one intensive intervention to individuals facing obstacles to learning while also training teachers in the classroom and supporting students in schools and communities. We recognize that obstacles to learning can be multi-faceted, and we understand the power of prevention.


 


Tutors will work with small groups of 2–4 middle school students (grades 6–8), providing explicit literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading. Instruction is individualized based on assessment data provided by the school district and aligned to student-specific goals in literacy and self-regulation (e.g., confidence, self-advocacy).


 


This is a high-impact, short-term role focused on measurable student growth within a structured, research-based program.


 


Program Overview



  • Four-week instructional program with pre- and post-assessment

  • Daily 30-minute literacy sessions per student

  • Small-group instruction (pods of 2–4 students)

  • Approximately 50 students served the program

  • Curriculum and materials provided by LPLC, aligned with district goals

Principal Duties and Responsibilities



  • Deliver explicit, evidence-based literacy instruction using LPLC curriculum



  • Implement individualized learning goals based on student assessment data

  • Provide instruction in small group settings (2–4 students per pod)

  • Foster student growth in both literacy skills and self-regulation



  • Progress Monitoring & Documentation

    • Administer and track formative assessments and progress monitoring

    • Maintain daily session notes, attendance, and performance data

    • Contribute to individual student progress reports

    • Support completion of final program reports



  • Collaboration & Communication

    • Work under the guidance of the Program Manager

    • Participate in required training prior to program launch

    • Communicate effectively with program staff regarding student progress

    • Support a collaborative, team-based instructional environment




Essential Job Functions 



  • Deliver structured literacy instruction with consistency and fidelity

  • Accurately document student progress and maintain program records

  • Adapt instruction responsively based on student needs

  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times

  • Engage positively with students, fostering a supportive learning environment

  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and accountability throughout the program


Minimum Qualifications



  • High school diploma required, college coursework in education or related field preferred

  • Experience working with middle school–aged students

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to follow structured instructional programs with fidelity

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment

  • Basic proficiency with technology and data tracking


 Preferred:



  • Spanish language skills

  • Experience with reading instruction or intervention programs

  • Familiarity with Science of Reading principles
