Role Overview:

The Engagement Specialist is part of the Engagement Department at the Indiana State Museum working as assigned within the galleries and public spaces of the museum to engage and interact with visitors, assist with facilitation of daily programming, respond to visitor questions and concerns, safeguard objects, and monitor artifacts and exhibit components. Occasionally the engagement specialist may be asked to represent the museum at various outreach events or assist with programs. Incumbent may assist in managing and training of museum volunteers.

This is a temporary position from January to October 2026.

Schedule:

You will work up to 37.5 hours per week.

• Museum hours are Wednesday - Sunday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.
• Typical work hours are Wednesday - Sunday 9:30 am - 5:30 pm.
• Earlier and later hours may be required depending on events and logistics.

Salary:

The salary for this intermittent position traditionally starts at $16.73 per hour.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
