The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the processes established to respond to requests from utilities and independent developers for new generation and transmission interconnections with the transmission systems operated by SRP. This includes SRP's solely-owned transmission system as well as the participation project jointly-owned systems operated by SRP. This candidate will serve as the liaison between SRP and the requesting entity. Under timelines established in SRP's Open Access Transmission Tariff or in participation project procedures, the candidate will work across department lines to direct the completion of technical studies, development of plans of service and construction cost estimates and the drafting of agreements necessary to respond to such requests. The candidate will be responsible for presenting the status of interconnection requests to the Engineering & Operating (E&O) Committees for the jointly-owned transmission participation projects. As needed, the candidate will also be involved with specific issues related to the participation projects, which may include preparation of procedures, responding to action items generated at the E&O meetings, and other duties as assigned.
• Performs engineering design work and engineering studies.
• Performs as engineering project leader.
• Prepares specifications and evaluates bids.
• Prepares recommendation material for management consideration.
• Administers and reviews work performed by consultants and others.
• Prepares and/or conducts written and oral reports and presentations.
• Performs field engineering work.
• Performs engineering analyses.
• Design and/or codes computer programs.
Five (5) years full time experience actively engaged in engineering practice. Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for the job of Senior Engineer.
Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor.
Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.
Responsible for project budgets and schedules. Occasional contacts with customers and outside agencies. Contacts with suppliers of equipment and services. Occasional travel to suppliers facilities, industry organizational functions and SRP facilities. Ability to work effectively with various organizational groups within SRP. Ability to use engineering tools required for the job (i.e., computer, test equipment, etc.).
• Knowledge of transmission system assets
• Knowledge of substation design
• Familiarity with engineering drawings
• Ability to interpret and review transmission System Impact Studies
• Ability to interpret and review Facilities Studies
• Contract analysis, development and negotiation
• Understanding and preparation of budgets
• Experience with SAP
• Ability to interface with customers

• Presentation skills
• Process development, enhancement and documentation
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
