Job Description - 10068 - Mechanical Eng- Journeyman

1) Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering

problems.

2) Perform in all phases of hardware design, development, integration/implementation,

and analysis.

3) Plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for the design improvement

modifications and implementation of advanced technologies.

4) Develop standards and guidelines for tasks being performed including the generation

of Tailored Airworthiness Certification Criteria (TACC) or the modification of such

criteria in the Modified Airworthiness Certification Criteria (MACC).

5) Develop structural and corrosion repairs.

6) Perform all phases of hardware development, integration/implementation, and analysis. The Contractor

will participate in hardware evaluations and assist the Government in developing standards and

guidelines for tasks being performed. The Contractor will support engineering tasks including but

not limited to investigations and analysis, trade- off studies, quality evaluations, deficiency

reports, field and depot assistance requests. The Contractor will also participate in events

including but not limited to Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Preliminary Design Reviews

(PDRs), Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional

Configuration Audits (FCAs), First Article Tests (FATs), and Configuration Change Boards for

Airworthiness (CCB/AW).

7) Develop, test and evaluate theoretical designs;

8)Discuss and solve complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub- contractors, suppliers

and customers;

9)Ensure a product can be made again reliably with consistent performance in specified operating

environments;

10)Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques;

11)Plan and design new production processes; produce details of specifications and outline designs;

12) Recommend modifications following prototype test results;

13)Use research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modeling and

computer-aided design;

14)Consider the implications of issues such as cost, safety and time constraints;15) Work with other professionals, within and outside the engineering specialty.

16)The Contractor will analyze progress of program efforts on assigned projects and

technical tasks; identify and scope problems, provide recommendations and evaluate results of

implemented solutions and implement technical policies/procedures affecting resources and programs.

17)The Contractor will support required processes to acquire and sustain an aircraft,

including the Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) program, Mechanical

Equipment and Subsystem Integrity Program (MECSIP), Avionics Integrity Program (AVIP), the Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) and the Corrosion Prevention and Control Program. Specific

18)Advise and assist with the design and implementation of cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety, reliability, and throughput;

19)Evaluate the weapon system contractor's design and assess that missionized aircraft will meet

aircraft-related System Requirements Document (SRD) requirements;

20)Evaluate and assess the weapon system contractor's design and deliverables meet aircraft- related Statement of Work (SOW) requirements;

21)Develop and implement aircraft integrity programs and a corrosion prevention and control program;

22)Manage implementation and completion of aerial refueling certification and clearance processes;

23) Manage size, power, cooling, and weight and balance designs;

24:)Support test planning and execution and review of associated documents;

25)Coordinate with other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) including radar, communications, logistics,

integration and test to ensure aircraft system/subsystems are adequate to meet requirements;

26)Support the development, implementation, and execution of a program office Operational Safety,

Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E) process;

27)Develop, implement, and execute program office operating instructions, as required;

28)Develop, implement, and execute a program sustainment strategy, and;

29)Assist the Government with management of Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) issues.
