1165 | Lidar+360 Mapping data collector USA

We are looking for an experienced B2B contractor to perform LiDAR and 360° mapping in California.

The role involves traveling to different locations within the state of California, so the candidate should be comfortable with travel and temporary relocation within the state. Fuel and accommodation expenses will be covered.

The role

The main responsibility will be field-based geospatial data collection using a LiDAR system. It is important not only to have the required equipment, but also to have practical expertise in setting up, calibrating, and operating the system, as the quality and accuracy of the collected data depend heavily on proper configuration.

We are considering three possible equipment setups:

1. Drone-based LiDAR

• Own LiDAR system;
• Proven experience with drone-based LiDAR data collection;
• Valid drone pilot license and all required documentation allowing the candidate to legally operate a drone in the US;
• Proven piloting skills and relevant practical experience;
• Experience conducting surveying/geospatial work.

2. Vehicle-based LiDAR

• LiDAR system mounted on a vehicle;
• The vehicle can be owned or rented;
• Proven experience working with vehicle-based LiDAR systems;
• If required, we may be able to assist with obtaining the necessary license/documentation.

3. Pedestrian-based LiDAR

• We may also consider candidates using pedestrian-based LiDAR systems;

Equipment

The key component of the system is a LiDAR sensor — a laser-based sensor that scans the surrounding environment and generates spatial data.

Having the sensor alone is not sufficient. The candidate should have the necessary expertise to properly configure, calibrate, and operate the LiDAR system to ensure high-quality and accurate data collection.

It is highly preferable for the LiDAR setup to include GNSS and IMU (an inertial measurement unit), as combining these technologies with LiDAR enables accurate positioning and geospatial data collection.

A 360° camera can be provided by us, so having one is not mandatory, although it would be considered an advantage.

What we are looking for

• Hands-on experience with LiDAR systems;
• Own equipment that meets the project requirements;
• Strong knowledge of LiDAR system setup and calibration;
• Experience with surveying or geospatial data collection;
• Willingness to travel and temporarily relocate within the state of California;
• Availability to work with field equipment throughout the project.

Having a LiDAR system is a mandatory requirement. The exact equipment configuration can be discussed individually depending on the candidate's experience and capabilities.

We will cover fuel and accommodation expenses related to travel during the project.
