We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic First Grade Teacher to join our Elementary Team at Wendell Phillips School 63.
First grade is a critical year for building strong reading, writing, and math foundations. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about:
Early literacy development
Structured, engaging instruction
Supporting students as they transition into more independent learning
You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, foundational skills, and a love of learning.
Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons in reading, writing, and math
Use data to inform instruction and address learning gaps
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners
Establish a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom culture
Implement strong classroom management systems
Monitor student progress through ongoing assessments
Provide clear feedback to students and families
Partner with colleagues, interventionists, and leadership
Maintain strong communication with families through conferences and ParentSquare
Participate in coaching, professional development, and team collaboration
Continuously refine instructional practices
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
Valid teaching license (Indiana or transferable out-of-state license)
Experience in early elementary (K–2)
Strong understanding of early literacy and phonics instruction
Experience in diverse or urban school settings
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Strong relationship builder
Organized and structured in approach
Data-driven and reflective
Flexible and solutions-oriented

We offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package:
$51,500 – $83,000, based on experience and licensure
