Job Description - 201082 - WMCH-Linen Tech

Responsible for proper separation, processing, distribution and recording of all linen items.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Prepares equipment for daily operation.

2. Process linen according to set procedures for the specific linen item. 

3. All OR/sterile packs are assembled according to set procedures. 

4. Linen carts are filled and delivered to the units based upon designated timeframes.

5. Maintain accurate record of linen utilization.

6. Maintains clear and safe work area.

7. Participates in in-service programs and adheres to hospital/department policies and procedures.

8. Sorts all soiled linen into categories.

9. Adheres to infectious control standards in regards to following the procedures established for Universal Precautions and working with Infectious Medical Waste. 

10. Cross trained to wash clothes as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Frequent standing, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds.

1. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids and different types of cleaning chemicals. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
2. Possesses the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
3. Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of assigned areas, necessary supplies and equipment
4. Must be able to read and follow written work assignments.
