2027 Distribution Center Operations Developmment Program (Starts June 2027)

Are you aspiring to become a future Operations leader within Supply Chain? The Wesco Supply Chain Operations Leadership Development Program is a 24-month immersive development experience designed to prepare high-potential graduates for leadership opportunities within our Supply Chain organization. Through progressive assignments across multiple operational functions, you will gain hands-on experience leading processes, solving business challenges, driving continuous improvement, and learning how to effectively lead people. Work will be performed under the guidance of experienced Operations leaders, and you will be supported by a peer mentor throughout your journey. Along the way, you will build critical skills in leadership, communication, problem-solving, analytics, and operational excellence. Successful completion of the program is intended to prepare participants for placement into an Operations leadership role within Wesco.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:  

•    Participate in a structured 24-month Operations Leadership Development Program designed to build operational expertise, leadership capability, business acumen, and problem-solving skills across multiple functions within the Supply Chain Operations environment.

•    Gain hands-on experience through progressive assignments within key operational areas such as Inbound, Outbound, Inventory Control/Quality, Wire Cutting, Supply Chain Services, and other operational functions while supporting daily business objectives and customer service commitments.

•    Lead and support operational improvement initiatives by identifying process inefficiencies, analyzing data, developing solutions, and participating in Continuous Improvement projects, including Yellow Belt and Green Belt development opportunities.

•    Partner with Operations leaders, supervisors, and cross-functional business partners to develop a comprehensive understanding of workforce management, safety, quality, productivity, inventory management, and overall operational performance.

•    Participate in leadership development activities, mentoring, coaching, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen communication, decision-making, teamwork, and people leadership skills in preparation for future leadership roles.

•    Attend program development experiences throughout the year, including orientation events, leadership speaker sessions, training opportunities, team-building activities, and program-wide networking events that provide exposure to senior leaders and broader Supply Chain operations.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

•    Strng leadership potential with demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and a desire to learn and grow within Supply Chain Operations. 

•    Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills. 

•    Ability to adapt to changing business needs and thrive in a fast-paced operational environment. 

•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 

•    Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and levels of the organization. 

•    Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team while managing multiple priorities.

•    Results-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence. 

•    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (completed or expected prior to program start date).

•    Authorization to work in the United States.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Degree concentration in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Distribution, Business, Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Management, or a related field.


• Previous internship, co-op, part-time employment, leadership role, or relevant experience in Supply Chain, Operations, Logistics, Manufacturing, Distribution, Industrial Distribution, Business, or a related field. 


• Experience working in a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, retail, service, or other fast-paced operational environment. 


• Demonstrated leadership experience through work, internships, student organizations, athletics, volunteer activities, or extracurricular involvement. 


• Exposure to process improvement, continuous improvement, data analysis, project work, or operational problem-solving initiatives. 


• Experience working for an industrial distributor, contractor, manufacturer, supplier, or logistics organization. 


• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, data analysis, reporting, and operational performance metrics.


• Proven ability to work effectively in team-based environments while taking initiative and ownership of responsibilities.
